Moor Mother in Chicago

Moor Mother is the performance name of American poet, musician and visual artist Camae Ayewa, based in Philadelphia. Her work brings experimental hip-hop and spoken word into contact with noise, electronics and free jazz. She is known for albums including Fetish Bones, Black Encyclopedia of the Air and Jazz Codes, and as the vocalist of Irreversible Entanglements. Unsound in Kraków has hosted Moor Mother’s solo performance, centered on voice, samples and electronics. She later served as a guest curator at Le Guess Who? in Utrecht, where her programme included a solo set and a performance by Irreversible Entanglements.
