New York Voices in Phoenix

New York Voices is an American vocal-jazz quartet formed in 1987 by singers who had studied at Ithaca College. The group is known for close four-part harmony and rhythmically detailed arrangements, heard on albums including New York Voices Sing the Songs of Paul Simon, Sing! Sing! Sing! and the Duke Ellington project Reminiscing in Tempo. The quartet has toured with the Count Basie Orchestra and later established a concert partnership with the WDR Big Band Cologne, documented on Live with the WDR Big Band Cologne. Its performances center on the four singers, often supported by a rhythm section or an orchestra. New York engagements have included Carnegie Hall and the Blue Note. The group has also appeared at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.
