Newtown Neurotics are an English punk rock band formed in Harlow, Essex, in 1979. Led by singer and guitarist Steve Drewett, they became known for politically direct songs including “Kick Out the Tories,” “Living with Unemployment” and “Mindless Violence,” as well as the album Beggars Can Be Choosers. Newtown Neurotics toured East Germany during the 1980s as their live work extended beyond the British punk circuit. After the band’s original run ended in 1988, they returned for reunion concerts and resumed performing in the 2000s; their later appearances have included Rebellion Festival in Blackpool.

Attila The Stockbroker is the stage name of English punk poet, musician and songwriter John Baine, born in 1957. He began performing under the name in 1980 and became known for politically direct poetry and folk-punk songs, including the album Ranting at the Nation. His work also includes the memoir Arguments Yard and recordings made with his band Barnstormer. He took his solo poetry and music around Britain and continental Europe during the 1980s, including performances in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. After forming Barnstormer in 1994, he added full-band concerts to his spoken-word appearances while continuing to work in clubs, theatres and festivals. His long live history includes repeated appearances at Glastonbury Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
