Ney Matogrosso in Foz do Iguaçu

Ney Matogrosso is a Brazilian singer, born in Bela Vista in 1941, whose high-register voice and theatrical performance style first became widely known through Secos & Molhados. He sang on the group’s recordings of “Sangue Latino” and “Rosa de Hiroshima” before beginning a solo career that includes “Homem com H,” “Poema” and the album Bandido. The Beijo Bandido show followed the 2009 album of the same name and was succeeded by Atento aos Sinais, launched in 2013 and later documented as a live release. Bloco na Rua opened in 2019, carried songs drawn from several periods of his repertoire and also became a concert album. His concerts place his voice at the center of a full band and retain the costumes, makeup and precise physical movement that have marked his stage work since Secos & Molhados. Brazil accounts for the central stretch of his live work, including performances in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Portugal has also hosted his shows repeatedly, particularly Lisbon.
