Nightmares On Wax in Sofia

Nightmares on Wax is an English electronic project formed in Leeds in 1988 by George Evelyn and Kevin Harper, and later led by Evelyn. Its sample-driven downtempo music draws on hip-hop, soul and dub; early tracks “Dextrous” and “Aftermath” established the name, while Smokers Delight, Carboot Soul and In a Space Outta Sound became key albums in its catalogue. Wax Da Jam, the party series Evelyn founded in Ibiza, provided a long-running club setting for his DJ sets at Las Dalias. In 2014 he marked the N.O.W. Is the Time retrospective with live-band performances, and in 2018 Nightmares on Wax brought that ensemble format to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
