Nils Landgren Funk Unit is a Swedish jazz-funk group led by trombonist and singer Nils Landgren. Its catalogue includes the albums Paint It Blue, Funky ABBA and Licence to Funk, moving between original funk material and jazz-minded reinterpretations. The 1995 album Live in Stockholm captured the group at the Fasching jazz club. Live in Montreux followed in 1998, documenting its appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival and establishing live recordings as an important part of the band’s catalogue. JazzBaltica, where Landgren serves as artistic director, has hosted the group, and its festival history also includes Leverkusener Jazztage.
