Niño de Elche in Salobreña

Niño de Elche is the stage name of Spanish singer and artist Francisco Contreras Molina, born in Elche in 1985. He treats flamenco singing as material for work involving rock, electronics and spoken text, and is known for the albums Voces del extremo and Antología del cante flamenco heterodoxo. He also recorded with Los Planetas as the group Fuerza Nueva. In 2018, Niño de Elche recorded an NPR Tiny Desk Concert in Washington, D.C., performing with voice, guitar and electronics. He later toured Mellizo Doble, a stage work built around his singing and the choreography and footwork of Israel Galván.
