Artist
Nu Genea are an Italian duo formed by Naples-born musicians Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina. Originally known as Nu Guinea, they draw on Neapolitan song, funk, disco and electronic music. Their catalogue includes The Tony Allen Experiments, Nuova Napoli and Bar Mediterraneo, home to the song “Marechià” with Célia Kameni. For concerts built around Nuova Napoli and Bar Mediterraneo, Nu Genea expanded into the Nu Genea Live Band, bringing vocals, percussion, keyboards, guitars and horns into the arrangements. The duo also perform DJ sets, and their festival appearances have included Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Glastonbury Festival.
