Obituary in Atlanta

Obituary are an American death metal band formed in Tampa in 1984, first performing as Executioner and Xecutioner before adopting their present name. John Tardy’s guttural vocals and the albums Slowly We Rot, Cause of Death and The End Complete established the band’s blunt, heavy sound. After re-forming in 2003, Obituary returned to international touring and documented a 2008 Party.San Open Air performance on the concert release Live Xecution. In 2019, the band supported Slayer on the final North American leg of The Final Campaign, then joined Amon Amarth’s Great Heathen Army tour in 2022 alongside Carcass and Cattle Decapitation. Festival appearances have also included Germany’s Wacken Open Air and France’s Hellfest.
