Peter Rowan in Kennett Square

Peter Rowan is an American bluegrass singer, songwriter and guitarist, born in Boston in 1942. He became known through his work in Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys and wrote songs including “Panama Red,” “Midnight Moonlight” and “Walls of Time.” His music also draws on country, folk and Tex-Mex traditions. In 1973, Peter Rowan sang and played guitar with Old & In the Way at the Boarding House in San Francisco; recordings from those concerts were released as the group’s self-titled live album. He later performed and recorded as a duo with Tony Rice, including the album You Were There for Me. His festival history includes multiple appearances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.
