Artists
Propagandhi is a Canadian punk band formed in Winnipeg in 1986 by Chris Hannah and Jord Samolesky. The group is known for fast, technically precise punk and explicitly political writing, including “Anti-Manifesto” and “Nation-States,” and albums such as Less Talk, More Rock, Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes and Supporting Caste. An early-1990s show with NOFX connected Propagandhi with Fat Mike, who released How to Clean Everything through Fat Wreck Chords. Live from Occupied Territory documented a 2003 performance at The Zoo, and the band later toured behind Failed States and Victory Lap in clubs, theatres and festival settings. Its festival appearances have included The Fest in Gainesville and Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas.
Voivod are a Canadian metal band formed in Jonquière, Quebec, in 1982. Their music combines thrash-metal force with progressive structures, dissonant guitar work and science-fiction themes. Albums including Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface established the sound for which they are best known. Voivod opened selected dates for Rush on the Presto tour in 1990. After vocalist Denis “Snake” Bélanger returned and Jason Newsted joined on bass, the band played Ozzfest in 2003. They later performed at Roadburn Festival in 2011, and that set was released as Live at Roadburn 2011. Their festival appearances also include Wacken Open Air in Germany and Hellfest in Clisson.
