Psycroptic & Rivers of Nihil in Sydney

Psycroptic is an Australian technical death metal band formed in Hobart, Tasmania, in 1999 by brothers Joe and Dave Haley. The band developed its tightly articulated, riff-heavy sound on The Isle of Disenchantment and The Scepter of the Ancients, then carried it through albums including Ob(Servant), The Inherited Repression and Divine Council. In 2008, Psycroptic joined the North American Summer Slaughter Tour, whose lineup also included The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm and Vader. The band later performed at major European metal festivals including Wacken Open Air in Germany and Bloodstock Open Air in the UK.

Rivers of Nihil are an American progressive death metal band formed in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 2009. They play technical death metal with atmospheric passages and, notably on Where Owls Know My Name, saxophone. Their albums include The Conscious Seed of Light, Monarchy, Where Owls Know My Name and The Work; key songs include “The Silent Life” and “Where Owls Know My Name.” Rivers of Nihil joined The Black Dahlia Murder’s Up From the Sewer Tour in 2021, appearing on a North American package that also included After the Burial, Carnifex and Undeath. In 2022, the band headlined a North American run supported by Fallujah, Alluvial and Warforged.
