Imelda May in Zurich

Imelda May is an Irish singer-songwriter, born in Dublin in 1974, whose music draws on rockabilly, blues, jazz and rock. She became known through the albums Love Tattoo and Mayhem, and songs including “Johnny Got a Boom Boom,” “Mayhem” and “Big Bad Handsome Man.” Her later records include Tribal, Life Love Flesh Blood and 11 Past the Hour. In 2010, May joined Jeff Beck for his Les Paul tribute concerts at the Iridium in New York; the performances were released as Rock ’n’ Roll Party (Honoring Les Paul). Tours behind Mayhem and Tribal established her as a theatre and concert-hall headliner in Britain and Ireland, including appearances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and Dublin’s 3Arena.
