Dazz Band is an American funk and R&B group formed in Cleveland in 1976. Originally known as Kinsman Dazz, the band signed with Motown and became known for “Let It Whip,” the album Keep It Live and the later single “Joystick.” “Let It Whip” earned a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. During its Motown years, Dazz Band presented “Let It Whip” as a full ensemble built around vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and horns. That lineup performed the hit on Soul Train.
