Santana & The Doobie Brothers in El Paso

Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by guitarist Carlos Santana. Its percussion-rich Latin rock and sustained electric-guitar lines became widely known through the album Abraxas and songs including “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va” and “Smooth”; the latter appeared on the album Supernatural. Santana played the Woodstock festival in 1969 before its debut album had been released, and the performance of “Soul Sacrifice” became a key document of the band’s early live work. Decades later, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits opened as a residency at The Joint in 2009. In 2012, the band began An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, establishing another long-running residency around its catalogue.

The Doobie Brothers are an American rock band formed in San Jose in 1970. Their catalog moves between guitar-driven rock and soul-inflected pop, with “Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “China Grove,” “Black Water” and “What a Fool Believes” among their best-known songs. Key albums include Toulouse Street, The Captain and Me and Minute by Minute. The 1982 Farewell Tour ended with a concert at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. A benefit reunion in 1987 led to the group’s return as a working band, followed by decades of amphitheater and arena dates. Beginning in 2021, the 50th Anniversary Tour brought Michael McDonald back into the touring lineup alongside Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons and John McFee.
