Sarah McLachlan in Bend

Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist, born in Halifax in 1968, who writes melodic pop and folk-rock built around her voice and piano. She is known for albums including Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and Surfacing, as well as songs such as “Angel,” “Building a Mystery,” “Adia” and “I Will Remember You.” In 1997, Sarah McLachlan co-founded and headlined Lilith Fair, a touring festival centered on women solo artists and women-led bands; its original run lasted through 1999, followed by a revival in 2010. Her late-1990s concerts were documented on the live album Mirrorball, and later headline cycles included the Afterglow Tour and Shine On Tour. In 2024, she revisited a central record in her catalogue on the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary Tour.
