Saso Avsenik & seine Oberkrainer in Leibnitz, Styria

Saso Avsenik & seine Oberkrainer is a Slovenian folk ensemble formed in 2009 and led by accordionist Sašo Avsenik, grandson of musician Slavko Avsenik. The group plays polkas and waltzes in the Oberkrainer tradition, carrying forward repertoire associated with Slavko Avsenik, including “Trompeten-Echo,” while adding songs such as “Hallo kleine Maus.” The ensemble has taken its “Komm mit uns nach Oberkrain!” concert programme through theatres, concert halls and festival venues in Germany and Austria. Performances in Slovenia have included the Avsenik Festival in Begunje na Gorenjskem, where the family’s musical tradition is central to the programme.
