Shakey Graves & DOPE LEMON in Portland

Shakey Graves is the stage name of American singer-songwriter Alejandro Rose-Garcia, who was born in Austin in 1987. His music draws on lo-fi folk, Americana and rock, and he became known through the album Roll the Bones and songs including “Dearly Departed” and “Tomorrow.” Shakey Graves began performing as a one-man band, accompanying his guitar and vocals with percussion built around a modified suitcase. He later incorporated a full band while retaining solo passages in his concerts. His 2015 Newport Folk Festival set included Esmé Patterson, his duet partner on “Dearly Departed,” and he subsequently headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

DOPE LEMON is the psychedelic-rock and indie-folk project created in 2016 by Australian singer-songwriter Angus Stone, also known as half of Angus & Julia Stone. The project is known for the debut album Honey Bones and songs including “Marinade,” “Uptown Folks” and “Hey You”; later albums include Smooth Big Cat, Rose Pink Cadillac and Kimosabè. The 2019 shows behind Smooth Big Cat included headline dates in Australia, Europe and North America. Angus Stone subsequently took Rose Pink Cadillac and Kimosabè on the road with a live band, and in 2023 DOPE LEMON performed at Coachella and Glastonbury.
