Artist
Shinyribs is an American roots band formed in 2007 by Kevin Russell, the singer and guitarist of The Gourds. Its music draws on swamp pop, soul, funk and country, and its catalog includes the albums Well After Awhile, Okra Candy and I Got Your Medicine, as well as the song “Take Me Lake Charles.” Kevin Russell initially played Shinyribs concerts as a solo side project before developing the act into a large ensemble featuring a rhythm section, horns and backing vocalists. That expanded lineup has performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and on Austin City Limits.
