Sleepytime Gorilla Museum in Asheville

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is an American experimental rock and metal band formed in Oakland, California, in 1999 by musicians including Nils Frykdahl and Dan Rathbun. Their music uses complex compositions, theatrical vocals and custom-built instruments; key albums include Grand Opening and Closing, Of Natural History, In Glorious Times and Of the Last Human Being. The band performed at NEARfest in 2003 and toured North America and Europe in the years that followed before closing its initial run with farewell concerts in 2011. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum returned to the stage in 2024, resuming club and theatre performances across the United States.
