Steve Poltz & Rainbow Girls in Eureka Springs

Steve Poltz is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Halifax and raised in San Diego. He first became known as the frontman of folk-rock band The Rugburns, then established a solo career with albums including One Left Shoe. He also co-wrote Jewel’s “You Were Meant for Me.” During the 1990s, he fronted The Rugburns in San Diego clubs and performed with Jewel during their songwriting partnership. His later solo work has taken him through theatres, listening rooms, folk festivals and house concerts. A Steve Poltz show commonly features him alone with an acoustic guitar, combining songs with extended stories and improvised material. He has toured extensively through the United States and Canada and has repeatedly crossed Australia on national runs.

Rainbow Girls are an American folk trio formed in Santa Barbara, California, by Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey and Vanessa May. Their music centers on close three-part harmony, acoustic instrumentation and roots songwriting; they are known for the albums American Dream and Rolling Dumpster Fire, as well as their rendition of “Down Home Girl.” The trio’s early live history included a busking tour through Europe before sustained club and festival touring in the United States. Rainbow Girls later appeared at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco and the Kate Wolf Music Festival in Northern California.
