Stu Hamm in Studio City

Stu Hamm is an American electric bassist and composer known for instrumental rock and jazz fusion, both as a solo artist and through his work with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. His solo catalogue includes the albums Radio Free Albemuth and Kings of Sleep, while “Country Music (A Night in Hell)” showcases the tapping, slapping and chordal techniques central to his playing. At the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988, Hamm played in Satriani’s trio with drummer Jonathan Mover, a performance later released as Live in Montreux. He joined Satriani again for the inaugural G3 tour in 1996, then played the 2000 concerts at the Fillmore that became Live in San Francisco.
