Artist
Superchunk is an American indie-rock band formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1989. Their fast, melodic guitar sound took shape on the single “Slack Motherfucker” and albums including No Pocky for Kitty, Foolish and Here’s Where the Strings Come In. Members Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance also founded Merge Records. Superchunk performed at Merge XX, the label’s 20th-anniversary celebration in Carrboro, in 2009, after a period when the band played only infrequently. They then toured behind Majesty Shredding and returned for the Merge 25 celebration in 2014. Superchunk have played Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
