Artists
The Body is an American experimental metal duo formed in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1999 by guitarist and vocalist Chip King and drummer Lee Buford. Their music draws on doom metal, sludge, industrial noise and electronics. The duo is known for albums including All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood, I Shall Die Here and No One Deserves Happiness, as well as a long series of collaborative records. The Body has taken its two-person setup through independent clubs and experimental-music festivals for much of its history. Chip King handles guitar and vocals onstage, while Lee Buford plays drums and electronics. Their festival appearances include Roadburn in Tilburg, and their collaborative work with Full of Hell has also led to joint performances by the two groups.
Big Brave is a Canadian trio formed in Montreal in 2012. The band plays drone-heavy experimental rock and metal, built around sustained guitars, forceful percussion and Robin Wattie’s stark vocals. Its best-known records include Ardor, A Gaze Among Them, Vital and nature morte; Big Brave also recorded Leaving None But Small Birds with The Body. Big Brave have toured with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, while later live runs included dates supporting Sunn O))). The trio has also presented its long-form, drone-based work at Roadburn in Tilburg.
