The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown in Glasgow

The Crazy World of Arthur Brown is a British psychedelic rock band formed in London in 1967 around singer Arthur Brown. Its self-titled 1968 debut album produced the hit “Fire,” pairing Brown’s high-register vocals and theatrical delivery with Vincent Crane’s Hammond organ. The band played the UFO Club during its first year and appeared at the Windsor National Jazz and Blues Festival in 1967. A US tour followed in 1968 before the original group dissolved in 1969; Brown later revived the name for further touring and festival appearances. The Crazy World of Arthur Brown performs as a full rock band, and “Fire” remains part of its repertoire. A flaming headpiece and painted face are recurring elements of Arthur Brown’s stage character.
