The Flaming Lips in Glasgow

The Flaming Lips are an American experimental rock band formed in Oklahoma City in 1983. Led by Wayne Coyne, they are known for psychedelic rock and pop heard on albums including The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, as well as the song “Do You Realize??” In 2002, the group toured with Beck, opening the concerts and performing as his backing band during Beck’s set. They later filmed their 2006 hometown concert at the Zoo Amphitheatre for UFOs at the Zoo, and in 2023 they took Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots on an anniversary tour that featured the album in full. The concerts are full-band performances led by Coyne. A long-established part of the show has him enter a giant transparent ball and travel over the audience. The band has made repeat appearances at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury.
