The Fleshtones are an American garage-rock band formed in Queens, New York City, in 1976. Their music draws on 1960s garage rock, rhythm and blues, and power pop, a combination the group calls “super rock.” The albums Roman Gods and Hexbreaker!, together with songs including “American Beat” and “The Girl from Baltimore,” established their catalogue. The band played its first concert at CBGB in 1976. Its performance of “Shadow-Line” later appeared in the 1981 concert film Urgh! A Music War, and years of club touring were documented on the live album Speed Connection, recorded in Paris.
