Hot Club Of Cowtown in Saratoga Springs

Hot Club of Cowtown is an American western-swing and hot-jazz trio formed in 1997 and based in Austin, Texas. Guitarist Whit Smith, fiddler Elana James and upright bassist Jake Erwin draw on the music of Bob Wills, Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Their recordings include Tall Tales, Ghost Train and What Makes Bob Holler, a collection devoted to songs associated with Bob Wills. The 2003 concert release Continental Stomp documented the trio at the Continental Club in Austin. Beyond that club recording, Hot Club of Cowtown has performed at festivals including Glastonbury, retaining its core arrangement of guitar, fiddle, upright bass and vocals. The trio has played concert-hall programs at Lincoln Center in New York and country-theatre dates at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
