The Meditations in South Kingstown

The Meditations are a Jamaican roots-reggae vocal group formed in Kingston in 1974 by Ansel Cridland, Danny Clarke and Winston Watson. Their best-known recordings include “Woman Is Like a Shadow” and the album Message from the Meditations. The trio also provided backing vocals on Bob Marley recordings including “Punky Reggae Party,” “Blackman Redemption” and “Rastaman Live Up.” The Meditations performed at the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston in 1978. They later brought their roots-reggae catalogue and three-part vocal harmonies to Reggae Sunsplash.
