The Rubinoos are an American power-pop band formed in Berkeley, California, in 1970. Their bright guitar pop is best known through their cover of “I Think We’re Alone Now,” the original song “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,” and the albums The Rubinoos and Back to the Drawing Board. The Rubinoos opened shows on Elvis Costello’s Armed Forces tour, bringing their compact pop-rock songs to larger concert audiences. After returning to regular activity in the late 1990s, they played further tours in Japan and Spain.
