The S.O.S Band in Country Club Hills

The S.O.S. Band is an American funk and R&B group formed in Atlanta in 1977. The group became known through “Take Your Time (Do It Right)” and a run of recordings produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, including “Just Be Good to Me,” “Tell Me If You Still Care” and “The Finest.” The S.O.S. Band toured behind its Tabu Records albums throughout the 1980s, performing the vocal-led arrangements and rhythm-section grooves heard on those records. After original lead singer Mary Davis left in 1987, the group continued with other vocalists; her return in the 1990s restored the voice associated with its best-known songs to the concert lineup of The S.O.S. Band.
