The Space Lady in Leeds

The Space Lady is the performing name of American electronic musician and singer Susan Dietrich Schneider. Her lo-fi synth-pop pairs voice and portable keyboard arrangements on songs including “Major Tom,” “Ghost Riders in the Sky” and “Synthesize Me.” Recordings from her street-performing years were collected on The Space Lady’s Greatest Hits. She began performing on the streets of Boston with an accordion, then adopted a battery-powered Casio keyboard after moving west. Following a long break, she returned to performing and took the repertoire to clubs and festivals on international tours. These concerts retained the compact keyboard-and-voice format she had developed as a street musician in San Francisco.
