Too Many Zooz is an American instrumental trio formed in New York City in 2013. The group calls its mix of baritone saxophone, trumpet, percussion, jazz, funk and dance rhythms “brass house.” Videos of its performances in the city’s subway system introduced the sound to a wide audience, followed by releases including F Note and Subway Gawdz. Its brass also appears on “Daddy Lessons” from Beyoncé’s Lemonade. The trio developed its live act while busking at the Union Square station, where the musicians played directly among commuters. A Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music documented that compact setup, and subsequent touring took Too Many Zooz into clubs and festivals outside the United States. In 2016, the group performed “Daddy Lessons” with Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks at the CMA Awards.
