Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue & St. Paul & The Broken Bones in Lincoln

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue is a New Orleans band led by American trombonist, trumpeter and singer Troy Andrews. Its music draws on funk, jazz, rock and the city’s brass-band tradition. The group is known for albums including Backatown, For True and Say That to Say This, as well as songs such as “Hurricane Season” and “Do to Me.” The band opened dates on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ I’m with You World Tour. In 2018, it led the Voodoo Threauxdown, a touring New Orleans revue featuring Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Galactic and New Breed Brass Band; the package returned in 2022. A Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue concert is a full-band performance in which Troy Andrews sings and switches between trombone and trumpet. The group has repeatedly closed the main stage at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It also presents the annual Treme Threauxdown inside Saenger Theatre.

St. Paul & The Broken Bones is an American soul band formed in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2012 and fronted by singer Paul Janeway. The group is known for its horn-driven Southern soul, the debut album Half the City, and songs including “Call Me,” “Broken Bones & Pocket Change” and “Apollo.” Later albums include Sea of Noise and Young Sick Camellia. On the Rolling Stones’ 2015 Zip Code Tour, St. Paul & The Broken Bones opened the Atlanta concert at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The band also performed at Coachella that year, then took its full-band show and horn section to Glastonbury Festival in 2016.
