Tuba Skinny in Rockport

Tuba Skinny is an American traditional jazz and blues band formed in New Orleans in 2009. The group draws much of its repertoire from early jazz, blues, ragtime and string-band music; its recordings include the albums Owl Call Blues, Pyramid Strut and Some Kind-a-Shake. The group played acoustic street sets on Royal Street in the French Quarter during its early years. It later toured through Europe and Australia, moving into clubs, theatres and festivals, including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. A Tuba Skinny performance features an acoustic ensemble of cornet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, banjo or guitar, washboard, percussion and vocals. Shaye Cohn leads the ensemble from the cornet.
