Violent Femmes & Psychedelic Furs in Buffalo

Violent Femmes are an American folk-punk and alternative rock band formed in Milwaukee in 1981. Their self-titled debut album established their spare acoustic sound and contains their best-known songs, including “Blister in the Sun,” “Kiss Off” and “Add It Up.” In 1981, James Honeyman-Scott of the Pretenders heard the group busking outside the Oriental Theatre, leading to a short set before the concert that night. They later performed at Woodstock ’94; following their 2009 breakup, the original lineup reunited at Coachella in 2013.

Psychedelic Furs are a British post-punk and new wave band formed in London in 1977 by brothers Richard and Tim Butler. They are known for songs including “Pretty in Pink,” “Love My Way,” “Heaven” and “The Ghost in You,” and for albums such as Talk Talk Talk and Forever Now. “Pretty in Pink” also gave its name to John Hughes’s 1986 film. Psychedelic Furs reunited in 2000 after an extended hiatus and returned to touring theatres and festivals. Following the release of Made of Rain, their first studio album in nearly three decades, they took the record on tour and joined Squeeze for a co-headlining North American run in 2023.
