Wé Ani in Brooklyn

Wé Ani is an American pop and soul singer, born in Harlem in 1999 and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. Initially performing as Wé McDonald, she became known through televised singing competitions before releasing original songs including “Disgusted” and “175 Lbs.” Her 2016 blind audition of “Feeling Good” on The Voice earned turns from all four coaches; she joined Alicia Keys’s team and finished the season in third place. In 2023, she returned to televised competition, auditioning with Demi Lovato’s “Anyone” and reaching the top five on American Idol.
