Wolfgang Niedecken in Sankt Peter-Ording

Wolfgang Niedecken is a German singer-songwriter and visual artist, born in Cologne in 1951, who founded and fronts the rock band BAP. He writes and sings primarily in Kölsch, Cologne’s local language, and is closely associated with BAP songs including “Verdamp lang her” and “Kristallnaach.” His work also includes solo recordings and interpretations of Bob Dylan. In 1982, Wolfgang Niedecken and BAP performed for WDR’s Rockpalast at the Loreley open-air stage. The band’s planned tour of East Germany was called off before its first concert in 1984 after authorities objected to lyrics in the set. His later solo program “Niedecken liest & singt Bob Dylan” paired Dylan songs and personal stories, accompanied by pianist Mike Herting.
