Yusuf / Cat Stevens in Boston

Yusuf / Cat Stevens is British singer-songwriter Steven Georgiou, who first became known as Cat Stevens and later recorded as Yusuf Islam. Born in London in 1948, he built a folk-rock catalogue around songs including “Father and Son,” “Wild World,” “Morning Has Broken” and “Peace Train,” and albums such as Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat. The 1976 Majikat Earth Tour captured his early concert work in a production later released as a film. He returned to concert touring in 2009 after a long absence, then marked five decades since his first recordings through the theatre-based A Cat’s Attic: 50 Year Anniversary Acoustic Tour in 2016. In 2023, he gave the Sunday-afternoon Legends performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
