Zola Jesus in Berkeley

Zola Jesus is the recording project of American singer, songwriter and producer Nika Roza Danilova, who was raised in northern Wisconsin and began releasing music under the name in the late 2000s. Her work pairs electronic and experimental pop with a classically trained voice; key releases include The Spoils, Stridulum II, Conatus, Taiga, Okovi and Arkhon, while “Night,” “Dangerous Days” and “Exhumed” are among her best-known songs. At the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2012, Zola Jesus performed arrangements created with JG Thirlwell and Mivos Quartet, material later recorded for Versions. She has also taken her electronic, vocal and full-band performances through clubs, theatres and festivals; her 2018 set at a Dutch festival was subsequently released as Live at Roadburn 2018.
