About Abney Park
Abney Park is an American band formed in Seattle in 1997 by singer and songwriter Robert Brown. Its music grew out of darkwave, gothic rock and industrial rock before the group adopted a steampunk identity based on fictional airship pirates. The band is known for songs including “Airship Pirate” and “Sleep Isabella,” as well as the albums Lost Horizons and Aether Shanties.
Abney Park performed at Steamcon in the Seattle area as steampunk conventions became a central setting for its live work. At Wild Wild West Con in Tucson, the musicians appeared in their airship-pirate personas, and the band also took that full-band presentation to Dragon Con in Atlanta.
