Almir Sater & Sérgio Reis in Bauru

Almir Sater is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, actor and viola caipira player, born in Campo Grande in 1956. His music draws on música caipira, traditional sertanejo, MPB and the culture of the Pantanal. He is known for “Tocando em Frente,” written with Renato Teixeira, and for recordings including “Chalana,” “Trem do Pantanal” and “Comitiva Esperança.” The AR tour brought Almir Sater and Renato Teixeira together in concert following their album of the same name. They extended the partnership through +AR, performing material from both projects alongside songs from their individual catalogues. These concerts center on the two musicians’ voices, guitars and violas, and on the repertoire written and recorded by Almir Sater and Renato Teixeira.

Sérgio Reis is a Brazilian singer and actor, born in São Paulo in 1940, whose music ranges from Jovem Guarda pop to traditional sertanejo. He became known through “Coração de Papel” before building a country repertoire that includes “O Menino da Porteira,” “Panela Velha” and “Pinga Ni Mim.” Sérgio Reis has performed at the Festa do Peão de Barretos, where sertanejo is central to the programme. In the 2010s, he and Renato Teixeira also presented their Amizade Sincera collaboration in concert, drawing on the rural songbooks associated with both performers and their recordings together.
