About Billy Porter
Billy Porter is an American singer and actor, born in 1969 in Pennsylvania, whose work spans soul, pop and musical theatre. He is known for originating the Tony-winning role of Lola in Kinky Boots, playing Pray Tell in Pose, and recordings including “Love Is on the Way” and the album Black Mona Lisa.
In 2013, he opened as Lola at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre and later returned to the production. A decade later, The Black Mona Lisa Tour: Volume One brought his solo music to concert venues including New York’s Beacon Theatre.
He also performed in Seattle and San Francisco during the 2023 run, far from his native Pittsburgh.
