Carcass are a British metal band formed in Liverpool in 1985 by guitarist Bill Steer and drummer Ken Owen, with bassist and vocalist Jeff Walker joining soon afterward. Their early albums Reek of Putrefaction and Symphonies of Sickness established their grindcore sound and medical imagery; Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious and Heartwork moved toward tightly structured, melodic death metal. Their best-known songs include “Corporal Jigsore Quandary,” “Heartwork” and “This Mortal Coil.” After re-forming in 2007, Carcass performed at Wacken Open Air in 2008 and returned to sustained international touring. They headlined the 2014 Decibel Magazine Tour alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, Gorguts and Noisem, then joined Amon Amarth’s Great Heathen Army North American tour in 2022 alongside Obituary and Cattle Decapitation.
