About Chico César
Chico César is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, born in Catolé do Rocha in 1964, whose music draws on MPB, forró, reggae and rock. He is known for songs including “Mama África” and “À Primeira Vista,” while Cuscuz Clã and Estado de Poesia are among his principal albums.
Aos Vivos, his 1995 debut album, documented a solo voice-and-guitar performance. He later toured with the band Cuscuz Clã, expanding those arrangements for an ensemble, and his appearances outside Brazil have included the Montreux Jazz Festival.
