Chrisette Michele is an American R&B and neo-soul singer-songwriter, born in Central Islip, New York, in 1982. Her debut album, I Am, introduced songs including “If I Have My Way” and “Be OK,” which won the Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. She later released the album Epiphany and recorded “A Couple of Forevers” for Better. Chrisette Michele joined Raheem DeVaughn’s Art of Love Tour in 2008, performing material from I Am as an opening act. In 2016, she sang “A Couple of Forevers” and other selections with a compact band at a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music.
