Confederate Railroad is an American country-rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia, in 1987 and led by singer Danny Shirley. Its self-titled debut album introduced the songs “Queen of Memphis,” “Jesus and Mama” and “Trashy Women,” while the follow-up album Notorious included “Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind.” Before its recording debut, the group spent several years playing bars around Atlanta and went on the road as the backing band for David Allan Coe and Johnny Paycheck.
