Dead Kennedys are an American punk rock and hardcore punk band formed in San Francisco in 1978. Their songs pair revolutionary politics and social satire with Jello Biafra’s lead vocals. Their studio albums include Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, Plastic Surgery Disasters, Frankenchrist and Bedtime for Democracy. The band played its first show at Mabuhay Gardens on July 19, 1978. A performance marking the 1984 closure of On Broadway was documented in DMPO’s on Broadway, while later archival releases included Live at the Deaf Club 1979 and Mutiny on the Bay. East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride and D.H. Peligro re-formed the group in 2001, beginning a period of international touring with Brandon Cruz on vocals.
