Dion in Staten Island

Dion is an American singer and songwriter, born in the Bronx in 1939, whose music spans doo-wop, rock and roll and folk rock. He first recorded as the lead singer of Dion and the Belmonts, known for “A Teenager in Love,” before establishing a solo career through songs including “Runaround Sue,” “The Wanderer” and “Abraham, Martin and John.” In 1959, Dion and the Belmonts joined the Winter Dance Party tour alongside Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. Dion later reunited with the Belmonts for a 1972 concert at Madison Square Garden, documented on the album Reunion: Live at Madison Square Garden.
