James Holden in Warsaw

James Holden is a British electronic musician, producer and DJ, born in Exeter in 1979. He first became known through trance and progressive house records such as “Horizons,” then pursued more experimental electronic music on The Idiots Are Winning and The Inheritors. He also founded the Border Community label and produced a widely played remix of Nathan Fake’s “The Sky Was Pink.” In the 2000s, James Holden toured primarily as a DJ. During the concert cycle for The Inheritors, he developed a live setup based on modular synthesizers and drummer Tom Page. He later toured the 2017 album The Animal Spirits with the larger ensemble that recorded it, performing under the name James Holden & The Animal Spirits.
